HEART: Healing, Empowering, and Rebuilding Together
Do you sometimes find that you just need someone to listen without judgment and allow you to be exactly where you are on your own unique healing journey? Do you want to talk with someone who can relate to your experience?
The worldwide Route 91 family now has access to peer support based on an award-winning model that has been designed and customized for the Route 91 community. As Heart Health Month, February is a great time to remind ourselves of this unique and effective resource available to those who survived the tragedy of 1 October, lost someone close to them, or worked as a first responder.
These HEART Peer Mentors are ready to connect with others for one-on-one peer support:
“Training to become a Peer Mentor allowed me to revisit safely and process the night of Route and the journey through the week following when I served as part of the volunteer response through Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Southern Nevada. In partnering with my assigned HEART Peers, I have learned that, although many of us had similar experiences, we each had a unique comprehension and guided pathway of survival during the time since the tragedy. I am grateful to support others in this community of survivors.”
-RJ, HEART Peer Mentor
“What a special privilege it is to support fellow Route 91 survivors on their path to healing. Being a mentor is not only a worthwhile endeavor because it blesses each caller on their unique path to healing, but it also bolsters our own strength and deeper healing from this tragedy. It is this shared experience that makes such a difference. We are all blessed and move together to see the event can no longer cling to us if we are ready to let go.”
-Erin, HEART Peer Mentor
“Many people impacted by Route 91 have found it helpful to talk to a Route 91 HEART-trained Peer Mentor who was also impacted by Route 91. There is something really profound that happens when you talk to someone who really gets what you went through and how it’s impacting your life now.”
-Alice, Lead HEART Coach
HEART Is Here for You and Those You Love
HEART Peer Mentors are dedicated volunteers who have been impacted by Route 91. They complete a rigorous training and certification process. They are well versed in best practices to support each other and also have the benefit of coaching through licensed trauma-informed providers. They represent many different roles and connections to Route 91 and the HEART Team reviews each request for the best available match.
To learn more, please join us for a conversation with a few of the HEART Peer Mentors on Tuesday, February 28! See the VSRC Calendar for details or visit vsrcheart.eventbrite.com.
