1 October Remembrance Stars of HOPE

Anyone impacted by the Route 91 tragedy of October 1, 2017, is invited to join a virtual workshop to create paper and digital Stars of HOPE with the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center. This workshop will offer a space for you to heal, honor, connect, and create art right from your kitchen table.

The mission of Stars of HOPE is to create a community of hope and healing through creative art-making. They use intentional art-making in the form of a star to give hope, show compassion, and promote healing in communities that have been impacted by tragedies such as mass violence.

In response to Las Vegas, Stars of HOPE volunteers from Orlando and San Bernardino met with patients and staff at Sunrise Medical Center to show support from their own life experiences. They would be honored to have you participate in this project.

Program Manager/Art Therapist Kelly Burns will guide you through this creative process with a mindfulness exercise and then discuss how to create your star with your choice of art materials. At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to share your star with others who have been impacted by tragedy—promoting healing within all communities. You can send your star to include it in a banner that will be a collage of all the stars from this workshop to be sent in support of another community impacted by tragedy.

Visit resiliencyandjustice.org/stars for instructions on printing or using a digital version of the star template.
