Opening Reception of “5 Years Later: Remembering 1 October & Becoming Vegas Stronger”

The public is invited to attend a free opening night reception of the Clark County Museum’s retrospective, “5 Years Later: Remembering 1 October & Becoming Vegas Stronger,” which will feature letters, posters, signs, and other items from the museum’s 22,000-piece 1 October collection in the exhibit hall.

Local musician and 1 October survivor Pat Dalton Amico will perform his tribute songs, “Forever Family” and “58 Angels,” at the start of the reception. Attendees will be able to take tours of the exhibit with the museum’s curator and visit the new storage area where all of its 1 October collection is stored. Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be available in the museum until January 30, 2023.

Museum volunteers spent 18 months cataloging artifacts left at the local landmark and other locations. Every artifact has been photographed and is online and available for viewing on the museum’s website page. The museum also is collecting stories behind memorial items to be included in its efforts to tell the story of how our community responded to 1 October. A form is posted on the museum’s website at https://tinyurl.com/yybjtes2 for anyone interested in sharing their story about what they left at one of the memorial sites.
