Peer Support Information Session

Announcing HEART: A Route 91 Peer Support Initiative

Helping, Empowering, And Rebuilding Together

In response to your feedback, the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center has teamed up with a nationally recognized expert to create a community peer support program. This award-winning model will be used to develop an initiative for the worldwide Route 91 family: Helping, Empowering, And Rebuilding Together (HEART).

We invite you to learn more about this initiative and how you can be involved by registering for this information session. Cherie Castellano, Director of the Rutgers National Center for Peer Support with over 20 years of experience in the field, will explain how this program can help to strengthen the existing Route 91 community that has already shown tremendous resilience in the face of tragedy. She will also help train individuals on how to become peer support leads to continuously assist their fellow Route 91 survivors and family members when they need it most.

HEART peers will be trained to offer services on an individual basis and also through wellness webinars. They will be well-versed in evidence-based best practices to support each other and will also have the benefit and guidance of trauma-informed providers. Peer support is known to have benefits for both the supporter and the receiver, with the roles and relationship fluctuating and using access to more formal services as needed.
