We want to wish our Route 91 family a happy 2022 and remind you that you’re not alone and it’s never too late to ask for help.
Every January, we have the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. Culturally, we celebrate with our family and say goodbye to the old year with dinner or a New Year’s celebration where it’s important to thank the year that’s ending and welcome the coming year with an open mind.
By following rituals like creating 12 resolutions (one for each month of the coming year), eating 12 grapes, or some other family traditions, we’re mindful that life is in constant motion and each year is an opportunity to keep working on improving ourselves—to keep working on our personal paths towards healing.
Having goals is a way of helping ourselves to stay motivated, incentivize ourselves, and strengthen our will to live, grow, and get better. Clear goals can help us identify what we want, and more importantly, why we want it. This phrase helps me organize my mind towards my own goals and resolutions:
“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action becomes reality.”

Let’s remember that every day is a gift for our lives, and every day we decide what to do with that gift. When you wake up, ask yourself if what you’re going to do today will get you closer to where you want to be tomorrow and if you’re on the right path towards your life goals.
Your wellness, your way of viewing the world, and doing what gives you peace—it’s up to you and only you. Say goodbye in a loving, forgiving, and thankful way to what’s coming to an end and welcome what’s coming to you with love, acceptance, and goodwill.
Once again, from everyone at the VSRC and all the organizations that are involved with the center, we want our great Route 91 family to remember that we’re here for you and your families, and we wish you all a very happy new year!
