My decision to transition out of the VSRC was a difficult one. While I am excited to spend more time with family and embark on new adventures, I am also left with many mixed emotions about this change.
“Thank you” does not begin to convey my appreciation to the entire Route 91 family for my experience as the Behavioral Health Coordinator with the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center.
The local community and many providers worldwide have continuously responded to my requests to support you and offer their time, talents, skills, and services. They have also been patient with me as I learned of the many different ways in which the facilitation of healing is possible.
You have been patient with me, also. You have allowed me the honor of being present for each reunion and other remembrance events, your time at the LV Community Healing Garden, Moving Beyond retreats, PSA production, Healing Ink, panel presentations, support groups, the creation of HEART Peer Support, and many other activities and experiences.
So many of you have allowed me to be a part of your journeys. Whether we have met or talked just once or we had the opportunity to reconnect several times, each interaction has been meaningful, with an impact more profound than I am able to express.
You have shown me how true it is that healing is unique for everyone, the power of peer support, the value of many different ways to find hope and help, and that readiness takes time. You have allowed me to witness your pain, loss, courage, healing, and many other aspects of your own individual paths of healing. Each encounter has added to my efforts toward understanding and adds to the overall effort to support the Route 91 community. Without even knowing it, you pay it forward because you have helped me to help someone else.
The opportunity to have been a part of your journey is an honor that I do not take lightly–a gift that I will always treasure. My hope is that each of you will continue to move forward in your own way and on your own timeline.
So much has been achieved as the VSRC has learned, adapted, and responded in support of the Route 91 community. Please know that your contributions to this process have been invaluable and will continue to support many others as time goes on. I am proud, yet also humbled, to have been part of this and so glad to know that you will continue to be cared for with the compassion that you deserve.
